HOMEBREWERS – GET BREWING!
As part of our week long celebration for American Craft Beer Week we will be hosting “The Art of Craft Beer” event on Thursday, May 15th. We will have a homebrew competition coupled with an art show all in the brewery!

If you’re a homebrewer and interested in participating here is what you need to know!

You MUST create an American Pale Ale that is 30-45 IBUs and 4.5-5.5% ABV using only the following ingredients!

Malts: Two Row and Caramalt
Hops: Centennial
Yeast: Three Notch’d House Scottish Ale Yeast (available for free at the brewery!)

All contestants must make enough beer to be judged (36-64 ounces in whatever vessel you prefer) and enough beer to be served in 2 ounce samples for the public. Beers for judging will be due to Dave Warwick or Scott Roth by May 13th at 5pm. As for the beer for the actual event, we think 5 gallons should be good and you DO NOT need to bring this extra beer with you when turning in your brews for preliminary judging on May 9th.

A panel of local beer judges will rate all of the beers over the weekend and the top 5 will be invited to showcase their creation at the event on Thursday May 15th. (Which means we want YOU to be there, so please mark your calendars for 6-9pm that night) Each member of the public will get one voting chip to vote for their favorite version of this great American style. The brewer who gets the most chips will be crowned champion and will be invited to brew that beer on our system in a 20 BBL batch alongside Dave Warwick and Levi Erickson and will be invited to be a judge for next year’s competition!

Please contact Scott at scott@threenb.com or Dave at dave@threenb.com to setup a time to pick up your yeast and let us know that you will be entering the contest! Spread the word – the more entries the better. We can’t wait to see what delicious ales you guys can brew up!
