Georgia’s Healing House “Friend-Raiser” at Three Notch’d Brewery

October 22, 2015 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Three Notch’d Brewing Company

520 2nd St. SE

This event is to support a local non-profit, Georgia’s Friends, and their project, Georgia’s Healing House. Georgia’s Healing House provides housing and support for women ready to make lasting, life changes. This is a “friend-raising” event and the intention is to educate ourselves about this important community resource, and collect items that can help women in transition. Please consider bringing a donation of toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc), paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, etc) or non-perishable food items (rice, pasta, etc.) These items help women moving in to Georgia’s House get started. Three Notch’d Brewery will donate $1 of each beer sold during the event to the Georgia’s House project. Three Notch’d will also be releasing a new beer during the event…Pumperkin!

We hope to educate as many people as possible with this event so please bring guests, male and female. As a ladies-only group, the Brew Betties are proud to support this women-focused project but know a community working together can often make the biggest impact.
More about Georgia’s House….

Georgia’s Friends came together in 2006 after their friend, Georgia Barbour, died in a jail cell following a long struggle with alcoholism. They believed that Georgia would be alive if she had a safe house in which to recover and heal from her disease. They founded Georgia’s Friends Recovery House for Women, receiving non-profit (501.c.3) status in 2010. Their vision is to start a healing house for women to have a supportive living environment as they maintain sobriety and build a new life after incarceration or treatment. This year, 50 committed community folks, with support from Mental Health America of Charlottesville-Albemarle, formed a community council to launch Georgia’s Healing House. They are proud to report they opened their doors this September! A representative of Georgia’s House will be at the event to tell us more about their plans.

If you have questions about donations please feel free to contact me. Of course, financial contributions will also be gratefully accepted. 🙂
