Disco Risqué is energy! Screaming guitars, pounding drums, thumping bass, blaring horns, and raw vocals come together in a controlled chaos that leaves listeners astounded and hungry for more. Formed in early 2014 and performing with the current lineup since mid-2015, Disco Risqué hails from Charlottesville, VA and have spent the last year developing a signature sound and a fiercely loyal following of dedicated fans. Within the first year of playing live the group delivered their eponymous debut double album, performed with up and coming greats such as Tauk, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and Peoples Blues of Richmond, and were chosen to be 1 of 4 bands in Virginia to participate in the prestigious Rockn to Lockn competition. Combining elements of rock, funk, hip-hop, hardcore, and pop Disco Risqué takes their listeners to previously untrodden sonic realms. With a grueling practice schedule and a seemingly limitless desire to take their music to the next level, Disco Risqué has quickly proven themselves as an up and coming powerhouse.

Tweed inspires and excites through music fueled by high energy performance and improvisation. Just as their namesake fabric of mingling colors and textures, Tweed has interwoven a psychedelic web of funk, rock and electronica. The band was formed at University of Delaware and now calls Philadelphia its stomping ground. Their collaboration can take listeners from multi-layered visions through the psyche to sweaty, raging dance parties driven by their own incessant beat.

“Tweed has become one of the hottest up-and-coming bands, quickly expanding their audience and repertoire… Tweed takes you on a euphoric journey through a wormhole to the future with what they have coined ‘jamchronica.’ Their progressive style mixed with heavy synth effects produces epic, layered jams that any livetronica head is sure to be pulled into.” – HeadSpace Magazine

Kendall Street Company was founded in the early months of 2013 by guitarist/vocalist Louis Smith and saxophonist Andrew Drehoff. The duo had been playing together for some time in the greater Virginia Beach area, joined by a rotation of talented musicians who performed behind Louis as the Louis Smith Band. After moving to Charlottesville in late 2012 to attend the University of Virginia, the pair began putting together a group of student musicians, adding Brian Roy on bass/vocals and Ryan Wood on drums/percussion in early 2013. Since then, the band has added Price Gillock on keyboards, Bucky Henry on auxiliary percussion, and Ben Laderberg on the electric guitar.

The band performs regularly in Virginia and throughout the East Coast, maintaining a central presence in the Charlottesville area, which includes live radio performances on WTJU 91.1 and WNRN 91.9 and a debut EP recorded at Blue Sprocket Sound in Harrisonburg, Virginia. While Kendall Street Company’s music is influenced by a variety of musicians and styles, the group has been described as “psychedelic,” “alternative,” “jammy,” “rock,” “indie,” and “ska.” It is not uncommon for guest performers to join the group on stage for extended jams.
