04 Apr Charlottesville Chalkfest
March 3, 2018 9:00 am - 11:00 pm
Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen & Brewery
520 2nd St. SE
Communities are stronger when we know our neighbors. Chalkfest is a multi-faceted event focused on building conversation and connections and celebrating the people of Charlottesville. There will be events for the day happening at Three Notch’d Brewing and all over the Downtown Mall.
The day will consist of:
At Three Notch’d Brewing:
9-11AM: FREE COMMUNITY BREAKFAST
A free neighborhood breakfast will be hosted for the neighborhoods surrounding IX Art Park. Hosted at Three Notch’d Brewing Company, neighbors are invited to share a French toast breakfast and conversation.
12PM: CHALKFEST CELEBRATION PRESENTATION & CHARLOTTESVILLE ALE TAPPING
We’ll unveil a bite-sized, 1-minute video celebrating the people of Charlottesville, our region’s natural beauty, our city’s vibrance, and local innovation. This video celebrates the natural beauty and vibrance of the Charlottesville area, as well as the city’s small businesses, local innovation, and the potential of community gathering. The Chalk video is supported by the Experience Charlottesville, WillowTree, Inc., Silverchair Information Systems, and Ting Charlottesville.
We’ll also raise a glass to the people of Charlottesville with the release of our very own Charlottesville Ale – a collaborative project between us and Champion Brewing Company, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, Random Row Brewing Co., Reason Beer, and South Street Brewery benefiting the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.
11-3PM: NON-PROFIT VILLAGE
A Non-profit village will provide an opportunity for local nonprofits to share their stories and solicit volunteers and participation. By bringing members of the Charlottesville community together with non-profits, Chalkfest aims to provide a mechanism for sustaining conversations and establishing new connections that will last long past the festival day on March 3rd.
On the Downtown Mall:
All Day: Follow the Chalk Trail to Local Businesses Supporting the Event!
Spend some time browsing in and out of the shops on the downtown mall.
11AM: Chalk Art at the Freedom of Speech Wall
Students from Charlottesville High School and local designer Meghan Macera will be crafting murals on the Freedom of Speech Wall. Come view these artists at work!
7:30PM: The Parking Lot Movie Screening at The Paramount Theater
Filmed here in Charlottesville, this documentary features the attendants of the Corner Parking Lot near the UVa grounds.
